THE STORY OF MADE BY MAMA

(Trigger warning) 👼

My name is Emma and I am the founder of Made by Mama.

I live in the beautiful North Yorkshire, England and I am luckily mummy of 2 very sassy little girls who call me Mama.

I started out making wax melts to aid in relaxation due to my mental health. Previously, this being something I've never been outspoken about or made known! Whereas typically, I used to be the type to tell you exactly how it is and my whole life story!

My mental health took a knock when I suffered a miscarriage some years ago 👼 Admittedly, I never dealt with it correctly at the time, hence why we are here now.

On occasions, (due date, Christmas, etc) I would light candles/wax melts in remembrance to my unborn child. Until one night, I was thinking about the baby a lot... that's when I noticed the flame flickering more than any other usual time of lighting! 🥺

I know many will be skeptical on this, but I had finally found the connection to this child I'd been longing for! It made me feel I hadn't completely lost the child forever.

So, I continued to light them, feeling comfort from it. From this, my mental health begun to take a turn for the better. My counsellor also mentioned taking time for me doing something I loved so I decided wax melts!

I'd always loved candles, melts, etc. So I set out on a mission for myself and bought a starter kit from Amazon  (prime delivery of course! 😉) after doing some quick research.

I soon found that I absolutely loved making them 😍 and I felt like I had a connection to this child EVEN MORE than ever!

This had a drastic change on my mental health. 🤗 I was coping easier with the loss, my mind was clearer, I had more energy... I was becoming ME again! I'd found my way out of the darkness, realising now was the time for me to help others! ​Subsequently introducing...

MADE BY MAMA!

A brand created by me, inspired by my unborn child and for the future of my 2 sassy little girls ❤️

Whatever stress, illness, loss, etc life brings, I firmly believe we all need to take the time to look after ourselves. I want to show people there's always light at the end of the tunnel (or a flame in my case).

Whilst teaching my daughters to never let the flame die out - keep fighting!

My wish/aim through Made by Mama is to help stop the stigma, support mental health awareness and break the silence over miscarriage/baby loss. 

Because to me, it's more than just a wax melt!
